In our previous article, we created an online store through the GoDaddy website builder. We showed every step of the process and how our flower shop turned out.

The process of adding products to the online store stood out. It had a different process from creating the online store. Instead of writing everything in one article, we thought we would split the two. It was more intuitive that way. The other article was also getting long to be honest.

Let us look at how to add products to your GoDaddy online store. You are probably still building your store at this stage of the process. If you are just checking out how easy it is, then follow through.

First go to GoDaddy and sign in. We’ll wait. You need to sign in so you can access the website builder.

Click on your account

After you have signed in. You’ll see the name of the person who signed in.

In our case, we used Stacey’s account to sign in. You’ll see the name to the right of the image above. Click on the name.

You’ll see such a drop down. You need to click on My Products.

It is right under the account subtitle. It is from your products that we will access the online store you are building. From there we access the method to add products to your store.

Click on the website

You should be in your account at this point. From your account, you will see all the products that you own. The list includes the name of the website you want to work on.

This is a partial image of what your screen looks like. It is possible that GoDaddy has made a change to the layout but it should not be too different. Look for the website you want to add products to and click on it.

In our previous article we were working on a small Rose selling business. We called it Wain Rose. For continuity, we will use the same store we were working on. The goal is to add a product to our store. We will click on Wain Rose. You should click on the website you want to work on.

Website Dashboard

Once you have clicked on the website you want to work on, you will now see the dashboard.

Populate it with the required details.

Fields available

Product type

You can choose if your product is physical or not. The non-physical products include digital products and video.

Product name

You will add the product name. Choose a unique name to avoid confusion in the future. Give the product an intuitive name that won’t cause confusion.

Price and sale price

Price is the original or normal price. Sale price is temporary. It reverts back to the price after a period. If you input both, your website will cross out the price and display the sale price. You use the sale price if you want your users to know that there is a discount and what the normal price is.

Product category

You will tick on an existing category if you want to use it. You can add a product category if the current ones are not enough. Click on the Product category field and then the Add option.

SKU

The Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) is a way of keeping track of your inventory. You need to know what is available and what is not. The website will automatically generate this for you. This is because it gets cumbersome when there are hundreds of products. It saves you from having to generate a unique code each time you upload a product.

Tax category

Choose the category that best suits your products. There are four options available.

Descriptions

The description is where you talk about the product. You are talking about what its selling points are. Let your customers know why it is the best for them. This is the opportunity to let them know everything they would want to know. They are one step to check out.

Search engines will use the details on the description to determine what to show on their results page. Make it informative and unique. That is search engine optimization 101. Search engines like Google want you to put your customer first and a good description is the first way to do so.

Inventory and options

In this section you will choose whether to track inventory. GoDaddy will help you keep track of your inventory, if it is almost sold out you can organize for a restocking. You enter the number of products available and from there it updates with every sale. You can use the toggle to allow backorders. Backorders are orders you take even though there is no supply. You will deliver them as soon as you can. You avoid losing customers who are willing to pay.

You can also add options. These are great for products that have a variation such as shoes. You add sizes, colors, materials or anything else. You create the choices that are available and your users will see them as choices they can pick. In our example we were creating color choices.

Shipping

In this section you set how you handle shipping. It could be that you charge by the weight of the package or at a flat fee. You add this here.

Search engines

You set the url you want for your product. A simple url is best. It is even better if it is based on the name of the product.

Remember your users. Make it easy for them and search engines will reward you.

Identifiers

There are two types of information you could provide here. You could provide brand information and unique information. Brand information helps categorize your product in other marketplaces such as Amazon. Unique information helps with inventory management and accounting. Sometimes marketplaces will require the unique identifier.

Uploading our product

We have uploaded our product and these are the details.
